If Karen Hughes is to succeed in her job, she should try to counter the sentiment in the Muslim World that "this administration is anti-Muslim." This has been reinforced lately by the thesis put forward by John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt

Mary O. McCarthy, a CIA officer, was fired last week for speaking to WP reporter Dana Priest. As long as this administration does not play it straight with official secrets, and as long as the elected officials in Washington wake up and do their job of oversight, Ms. McCarthy will be regarded by a lot of people as the voice of conscience and a true American Hero.

A Gargantuan Oceanic Burp

Methane is a greenhouse gas that is 20 times more powerful than carbon dioxide. And thousands of gigatons of methane, equivalent to the total amount of coal in the world, lie deep within the oceans in the form of ice-like solids called methane hydrates.
The big question is whether global warming — temperatures have risen about one degree Fahrenheit over the last 30 years — will thaw some of these methane hydrates. If so, the methane might be released as a gargantuan oceanic burp. Once in the atmosphere, that methane would accelerate the greenhouse effect and warm the earth and raise sea levels even more. The WP reports the sad story of a group of Asian workers in Sharjah. Abandoned by a bankrupt company, no wages paid for their work, and a judgment in their favor. Yet the system is not working for them. They say "If they pay us, we'll go home alive. If they don't pay us, we'll go home dead."

This story reminded me of my days in the Middle East. Abdul Rahman, a man from Bangladesh, was the janitor assigned to my office in a leading regional airline. They were never paid on time, and their living conditions were terrible. Abdul Rahman was luckier as he worked in a building. Some of his co-workers had to endure working outside in 100 degrees temperature. What happened to the Prophet's (PBUH) teachings to "pay the laborer his wages before his sweat is dried"

قدم برنامج "البيت بيتك" الشهير على القناة التلفزيونية المصرية الثانية ليلة أمس الاثنين بمناسبة المولد النبوي الشريف، مفترضا في المشاهدين "قمة البلاهة" كالعادة، حكاية رجل (هو المرشد العام لجماعة الإخوان المسلمين" قيل أنه سجل على شريط (منذ نصف عام أو يزيد) حديثا صحفيا سب فيه "مصر وأبا مصر ومن في مصر". وهذا القول، إن صح، يعني أن الرجل قد كفر بكل ذلك "وليس بعد الكفر ذنب". والكفر يبرر نفسه ولا يجدي فيه أو معه منطق أو تهديد بفضح أمره من خلال مانشتات صحف وبرامج حوار تليفزيوني. فما هو مبرر أولئك الوطنيين الغيورين، سواء شاهد الواقعة أو الواثقين من صحتها ... وعلى رأسهم مسئولي الصحيفة صاحبة الحملة؟! ورئيس التحرير الصحيفة اكتفى بتحدي "جماعة الإخوان، وليس فقط مرشدهم" بأن يثبتوا فبركة الشريط والقرص المدمج : في المحكمة فورا

ونفهم أن "من كفر بمصر وأبيها وبمن فيها، فإن عليه كفره"، ولكن المؤمن بمصر والوطني الغيور (مثل رئيس تحرير الصحيفة ونائب رئيس تحرير المجلة الصادرة عن الدار الصحفية العريقة الأقدم) لا يمكن أن يقف جامدا باردا أمام العدوان السافر (لمن وقع أمامه خاصة) ويكتفي بالصراخ ... وفضح أملة المعتدي؛ بالنشر. وإذا لم يفترض جميع هؤلاء الصارخين في القراء والمشاهدين والخلق أجمعين في مصر "منتهى البلاهة"، فإنهم كانوا يحملون معهم دليل الإدانة الدامغ ويهرولون فورا إلى أقرب قسم للشرطة ويحررون محضرا بالواقعة، ثم يرفعون به دعوى جنائية (أو خيانة عظمى) عاجلة لاتخاذ الإجراءات القانونية الحاسمة التي ترد العدوان السافر عن "مصر وأبيها وجميع من فيها

ومع ذلك كله، تبقى دلائل اطمئنان الصحيفة إلى بلاهة قرائها والبرنامج التليفزيوني إلى بلاهة مشاهديه؛ بالغة الوضوح. فأمامنا بين الضيوف مثلا هو لكاتب المقال الذي حرك صاحب الشريط إلى التلويح بقنبلته). وهو لا يترك محغلا تليفزيونيا لا يفاخر فيه بعداوته السافرة للجماعة "المحظورة"، ويشن عليها هجوما شرسا ويصب عليها جام غضبه؛ متجاهلا تماما تاريخ كفاحها الوطني في فلسطين والقنال وما تعرض له أفرادها من التعذيب والقتل والتشريد بأيدي حكام مسلمين (ثم يطالب الضحايا بالاعتذار). ونجد نفس الشخص، في نفس البرنامج، يؤيد رواية صاحب "الشريط القنبلة"، بأن مكتب المرشد العام يحرص دائماعلى تسجيل أحاديثه للحفيين آنيا على جهاز يلازم جهاز الصحفي الضيف. وقد زاد فروى قصة مناسبة طلب هو فيها من مكتب المرشد نسخة من تسجيلهم لحديث أجراه بنفسه مع المرشد، لكن شريطه تلف (أو فقد)؛ ولم يتردد مكتب المرشد في الاستجابة لطلبه. ولقد افترض أن روايته ستمر مر الكرام على مشاهديه السذج؛ فيغيب عن فطنتهم أن الرواية تدينه وتسلبه مصداقية دعاواه. فهي، بكل وضوح، تعد دليلا دامغا على مبلغ سماحة الجماعة التي يزدريها وعمق ونضج فكرهم وممارستهم الديمقراطية. فهم يستقبلون من يناصبهم العداء جهرا، ويعينه على أداء مهمته الصحفية التي تنتهي بهجومه الضاري عليهم؛ وافترائه عليهم بما ليس فيهم أبدا. وهكذا يصدق قول المولى سبحانه

أما عن القصة المهلهلة حول "الشريط القنبلة"، فإنها لن تختلف كثيرا عما يمكن أن يقدم عليه متربص ضال مضلل، بكل يسر : حين يستقطع من آية قرآنية كريمة عبارة "ولا تقربوا الصلاة"، ومن آية كريمة أخرى عبارة "فويل للمصلين" ... ويتوقف. وإذا كان الصوت على "الشريط القنبلة" هو بالفعل صوت المرشد "المتهم"، فمن المؤكد أن عبارة سب "مصر وأبيها ومن فيها" قد جاءت في سياق الحديث عن نظرة الطغاة للبلد وللرعية؛ وأن عبارة الخليفة "الخمورجي زير النساء" جاءت في سياق واقع تاريخي منع تداول السلطة وأبقى على الخلفاء الحكام الفاسقين الماجنين المنحلين الفاسدين المفسدين، إ تنزل بهم مصيبة الموت

ذكرى مولد الحبيب المصطفى عليه أفضل السلام

قال الله تعالى : { يا أيها النبي إنا أرسلناك شاهداً ومبشراً ونذيرا، وداعياً الى الله بإذنه وسراجاً منيراً، وبشر المؤمنين بأنّ لهم من الله فضلاً كبيراً، ولا تطع الكافرين .والمنافقين ودع اذاهم وتوكل على الله وكفى بالله وكيلا}. الاحزاب

الحمد لله ذي الصفات العلية مستدراً فيض البركات على ما أناله من الخير وأولاه ونصلي ونسلم على نبي الهدى الموصوف بالافضلية سيدِنا محمد ومن اتبعه بإحسان واقتدى بشريعته ووالاه. تطل علينا هذه الايام ذكرى طيبة عطرة ألا وهي ذكرى مولد حبيبِ الحق وخيرِ الخلق سيدنا وحبيبنا وقرة أعيننا محمد عليه أفضل الصلوات وأتم التسليم. وما أحوجنا أن نتزود من سيرة أشرف المخلوقات وأفضلِهم وأطهرِهم حتى تكون لنا نبراساً نقتدي به وسراجاً يضيء لنا دربنا ومنهلاً نغرف منه ما ينفعنا في دنيانا .واخرانا

نسبه صلى الله عليه وسلم
يقول الحبيب المصطفى " إنّ الله اصطفى من ولد ابراهيم : اسماعيل واصطفى من ولد اسماعيل : بني كنانة واصطفى من بني كنانة : قريشا واصطفى من قريش : بني هاشم واصطفاني من بني هاشم". اخرجه الترمذي وقال حديث حسن صحيح. هو محمد بن عبد الله بن عبد المطلب بن هاشم بن عبد مناف بن قصي بن كلاب بن مرة بن كعب بن لؤي بن غالب بن فهر بن مالك بن النضر بن كنانة بن خزيمة بن مدركة بن الياس بن مضر .بن نزار بن معد بن عدنان، ثم اختلفت الروايات من بعد عدنان الى ابراهيم عليه السلام

وأمه آمنة بنت وهب بن عبد مناف بن زهرة بن كلاب بن مرة. وقد رُوى أنّ آمنة لما حملت برسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم كانت تقول : ما شعرت أني حملت ولا وجدت له ثقلاً كما تجد النساء إلا أني انكرت رفع حيضي، وأتاني آتٍ وأنا بين النوم واليقظة فقال : هل شعرت أنك حملت ؟ فكأني أقول : ما أدري. فقال : إنك قد حملت بسيد هذه الامة ونبيها. وذلك يوم الاثنين. قالت : فكان ذلك مما يقَّن عندي الحمل. فلما دنت ولادتي اتاني .ذلك فقال : قولي أعيذه بالواحد الصمد من شر كل حاسد

اسماؤه صلى الله عليه وسلم
وأما أسماء الرسول فقد قال صلى الله عليه وسلم : " لي خمسة أسماء : أنا محمد وأحمد وأنا الماحي يمحو الله بي الكفر وأنا الحاشر الذي يُحشر الناس على قدمي وأنا العاقب". رواه البخاري ومسلم. ومعنى العاقب أي لا نبي بعده.

مولده صلى الله عليه وسلم
وقد ولد رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم في شهر ربيع الاول عام الفيل. وقد رُوي أن آمنة قالت : لقد علقتُ به فما وجدت له مشقة، وانه لما فُصِل خرج له نور أضاء له ما بين المشرق والمغرب ووقع على الارض معتمداً على يديه قد شق بصره ينظر الى السماء، وأنه وُلد مختونا مسرورا، فأعجبَ ذلمك عبد المطلب وحظي عنده وقال : ليكونن لإبني هذا شأن.
يوم مولده صلى الله عليه وسلم انطفأت النار التي كان يعبدها المجوس وكانت لم تنطفىء الف سنة، وغاضت بحيرة ساوة. وكان ذات يوم ببعض جبال مكة فلم يمر بشجر ولا حجر إلا وقال له : السلام عليك يا رسول الله. وقد شوهد خاتم النبوة بين أكتافه والغمامة التي كانت تظله.

.اولاده : عبد الله والقاسم وابراهيم
بناته : فاطمة وزينب ورقية وأم كلثوم. وقد مات كل أولاده في حياته إلا فاطمة رضي الله عنها أم الحسن والحسين زوج الامام علي بن ابي طالب رضي الله عنه فإنها ماتت بعد .ستة أشهر من وفاته صلى الله عليه وسلم

التصديق بكل ما جاء به الرسول
يجب أن نؤمن ونصدق أنّ سيدنا ونبينا محمد بن عبد الله بن عبد المطلب هو عبد الله ورسوله الى جميع الخلق من إنس وجن صادق في جميع ما أخبر به، وانه وجميع اخوانه الانبياء والمرسلين معصومون عن الكفر والكبائر والصغائر التي فيها خساسة ودناءة قبل النبوة وبعدها وانهم موصوفون بالصدق والامانة والفطانة والتبليغ فيستحيل عليهم الكذب والخيانة والرذالة والسفاهة والبلادة. فسيدنا ابراهيم عليه السلام لم يكن يعبد الكواكب والقمر بل كان مؤمناً بالله ولم يطرأ عليه شك في وجود الله ووحدانيته . قال الله .تعالى : { ولقد آتينا ابراهيمَ رشدَه من قبل} الانبياء. أي لم يكن مشركا ابدا

من أحاديثه صلى الله عليه وسلم
قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم : " ما بعث الله نبياً إلا حَسَنَ الوجه حسن الصوت وإن نبيكم أحسنُهم وجها وأحسنُهم صوتاً". رواه الترمذي. وقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم : " أنا سيد ولد آدم يوم القيامة وأول من ينشق عنه القبر وأول شافع وأول مشفع". رواه مسلم. وقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم :" وخُتِمَ بي النبييون ". رواه مسلم. فسيدنا محمد هو آخر الانبياء ولا يكون بعده نبي بدليلِ قوله تعالى : { ما كان محمد أبا أحد من رجالكم ولكن رسولَ الله وخاتَم النبيين }. سورة محمد. وأما سيدنا عيسى عليه السلام الذي لم يُقتل ولم يُصلب فسينزل من السماء التي رُفع اليها مؤيدا لشريعة محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم ثم يمكث اربعين سنة ثم يُتوفى ويصلي عليه المسلمون ويدفن بالمدينة كما ورد في الحديث الصحيح، ولم يكن بين سيدنا عيسى وسيدنا محمد نبي آخر.

وقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم :" فُضلتُ على الانبياء بست أعطيتُ جوامع الكلم ونُصرت بالرعب وأُحلت لي الغنائم وجُعلت لي الأرض طهورا ومسجدا وأُرسلت الى .الخلق كافة وخُتم بي النبيون". رواه مسلم

ومعنى اللهم صلِ على محمد : اللهم زد سيدنا محمداً تشريفاً وتكريماً وتفضيلاً. أخي المسلم، في ذكرى المولد النبوي الشريف ينبغي أن تكون لنا وقفةَ تأمل ومراجعةٍ وحساب ومحطةَ تزودٍ من التقوى ليومٍ لا ينفع فيه مال ولا بنون إلا من أتى الله بقلب .سليم : أي طاهر من الكفر

Maureen Dowd's column today in the NYT is titled "Divine right of Bushes". Dowd compared President Bush to the French King Louis XIV. The monarch said l'etat c'est moi and Ms Dowd maintain that in Bush's world l'etat, c'est mess. I am sure, her attribution of this famous French phrase to Louis XVI in the on-line version of the article, is easily explained.

There were two stories in the news about early Christianity. In the first, Israeli & US scientists attempt to explain miracles in the bible (Jesus walking on water & the parting of the sea). (WP) I say, if have faith, no explanation is needed.

The second story is about Judas Gospel. This was found in al-Minya in Egypt in the 1970's. Twenty years later and with no buyers to be found, it was given to Maecenas Foundation for conservation and translation. The stories I looked at in the NYT and National Geographic Society, maintain that it will be returned to Egypt for display in the Coptic Museum. Lots of questions are raised about how the manuscript left Egypt? And why the Ministry of Culture and the Antiquities Organization are silent about this find?

Now the budding democratic forces in Egypt will understand the US policy "to spread democracy in the Middle East."
