My Friend wrote a letter to the Ambassador of Denmark in Cairo

Your Excellencies:

The Media has recently been reporting mounting waves of protest and condemnation over the indecent conduct of the "Yellands-Posten" Newspaper/Magazine of Denmark, by its caricature representations of the Prophet of Islam; the Greatest Symbol of Perfection throughout the Human history, and to the end of time. It is, nevertheless, most unfortunate that repeated attacks in the West on Islam and the Prophet arouse angry reaction; since the attacks and the attackers are really not worthy of the slightest attention and concern. The Prophet himself set the example and taught His followers that they must "Rise above Ethical Ignorance", and nothing worse could be said about the Prophet and the Faith than what had been said and done to the Prophet in His life; by the infidels of His own people.

The Problem in this latest case should, therefore, concern the Muslims throughout the World much more less than it should disgrace the Danes; since it undermines Danish Dignity and Integrity. This is evident from the fact that the Danes have hitherto been considered one of the most enlightened, cultured and civilized nations in the World; and it is most tragic that a Danish Institution had so miserably failed to honour and preserve this great distinction. What, one wonders, had that Danish Institution hoped to gain by ridiculing the Great Faith and the Great Prophet; that would be worth sacrificing and tarnishing the image and reputation of Denmark?!

In Islam, the Faithful are commanded to be; "Good, Kind, Civil, and Considerate to the others"; regardless of how those others behave, in return. Muslim obligations are here governed by a standing debt of gratitude to their Maker; in return for His continued Goodness to them. One, however, should appreciate the fact that the General Muslim Reaction to the offensive Danish and Norwegian Press Institutions has been confined to condemnations and economic boycotts. It is indeed extremely striking and most gratifying that, in their Reaction, Muslims did not think of matching the Danish and Norwegian moral standards in "freedom of _expression"; by (for example) a counter-cartoon campaign depicting Her Majesty the Monarch of Denmark: posing as a "Striptease Dancer" or a Copenhagen "Prostitute"!!

So, you see Your Excellencies how Muslims in their fiercest fury "or when they are even Stirred to Extremist Anger"; still maintain the greatest measure of human decency and moral restraints.

Thank you.
Yours faithfully,
(Professor) F. A. E.
