We are in a kind of clash of civilizations and that is partly because of the mishandling of the last four years by the Bush administration... It preaches democracy, due process and human rights at home, but when dealing with Muslims abroad, it has double standards. Iraq has been badly mishandled with the result that a situation that was always going to be rather difficult between the Muslim and Western worlds has been made unnecessarily much worse. I don't think that we are in a world-transforming sort of apocalyptic time, but I think we're taking more risk of that developing than we need to be.
